Save L'Aquila Project Event Schedule
Save L'Aquila Project is a fundraising photography exhibition presenting hundreds of images of the aftermath of the earthquake in L'Aquila, Italy. Throughout the exhibition, we will be hosting a series of lectures connecting the events in Italy to earthquake-prone areas in California.

Opening Reception
Join us for the premiere of the Save L'Aquila Project Exhibition and the beginning of our Silent Auction. Enjoy music by cellist Daniela Arbizzi, and refreshments by Moretti and Zonin.
Tuesday, October 6th
Empower Yourself: Are you Prepared for a 7.8 Earthquake?
6:00 PM Margaret Vinci, Office Manager of Earthquake Programs at CalTech, will lead a revealing talk on what to expect from the next big quake in Los Angeles, and discuss earthquake preparedness and the upcoming Shake Out drill on October 15th. 7:00 PM Mariana Amatullo, Co-founder and Director of Designmatters at Art Center College of Design, author of the LA Earthquake Source Book, will present the short Preparedness Now. This film depicts the realistic outcome of a hypothetical, but plausible, magnitude 7.8 earthquake on the San Andreas Fault in Southern California.
Wednesday, October 7th
Seismologiacal and Engineering Aspects of the 2009 L'Aquila Earthquake
7:00 PM Dr. Jonathan Stewart, PhD, P.E., Professor and Vice Chair of the UCLA Civil & Environmental Engineering Department and Chief Editor of the ASCE Journal of Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Engineering led a group that performed reconnaissance in L'Aquila after the earthquake. He will provide a seismological and geological perspective on the L'Aquila earthquake, and why this information is important for those in Italy, and also for us in California.
Friday, October 9th
Life After: A Journey Through L'Aquila After the Earthquake
6:00 PM Kit Miyamoto, M.S., S.E., President and CEO of Miyamoto International will discuss findings from his reconnaissance mission to L'Aquila; and his dedication to developing awareness of advanced technological engineering solutions for earthquake-prone areas. 7:00 PM Alessio Zampaglione, Elena Acefalo, Architects at StudioAZA, and William Taylor, Director of LAIAD will share their project "Cubes for Life," structures that can be utilized and easily modified for multiple purposes in emergency situations.
