Save L'Aquila Project Exhibition October 3-10, 2009 Los Angeles
Jeanie Madsen Gallery hosted Save L'Aquila Project in this amazing gallery in Santa Monica facing the beach. Over 200 color and black & white photographs were displayed at this exhibit curated by Lisa Melandri, Director of the Santa Monica Museum of Art. Approximately 1,000 people visited the exhibit, and $10,000 was raised with the sale of photographs. Funds raised through this initiative will be contributed to Save the Children Italia. Consul General of Italy (Los Angeles), Nicola Faganello, was among the first ones to arrive at the Opening Gala. During the week, Save L'Aquila Project hosted a series of lectures at the gallery featuring top experts from UCLA, CalTech, and Pasadena Art Center, about earthquake readiness, geology, and engineering. Among the speakers were Mr. Miyamoto and Dr. Stewart, who visited L'Aquila on investigative studies.
